Put the YOU in Venue
Updated: Feb 17, 2020

What is the most important element when selecting your wedding venue?
That’s simple….You!
Close your eyes and picture your wedding. What do you see? Do you see yourself in a garden? In a grand ballroom? On top of the world? In a casual setting? Most women have dreamed about their wedding since they were very young. Before getting wrapped up in the internet searching for hours and hours for venues in your area know what’s in your heart.
What are truly the most important elements? ....... Guest count and photos.
The very first thing you need to do before venue shopping is to make a rough draft of your guest list, as a couple and with your families. Make sure your venue can hold the number of just you want to invite. Squeezing 300 guest into a venue that only holds 200 guest simply is just not possible. However remember, an intimate wedding isn’t a bad idea. If you have to reduce a few numbers to make your dream location work, it’s ok to make your reception adults only or not include those long lost relatives or friends (it will help save a few dollars as well).
The second most important element to keep in mind when selecting your perfect wedding venue are photos. You have planned for months , you have spent thousands of dollars, you had the most magical night of you life but when you wake up the next morning what is the one thing you have to show for it all? Memories! And those memories are best preserved in photos. Hire a fantastic, proven, talented photographer and then give them a remarkable canvas to work with…. the venue, inside and out. Remember, your not selecting a place to gather your guest for an evening, you are selecting a backdrop to the memories of the best night of our life.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Yes, there are many many elements that you will think of when comparing venues. Good sales people will be telling all about the little details they have and the ones their competitors don’t, but don’t let these little (yet important) details stand in your way when making the decision. It will not matter to your guest if they have to walk a few feet from a parking lot, or drive another thirty minute to the other side of town. You have invited them to share in your special day, they will be there no matter what. Restrooms are out outside the ballroom down to the end of the hall and turn right are no fewer steps then the restrooms are just at the bottom of these stairs (or elevator). When your guest gotta go they gotta go and they will find the restroom. You will never be able to please all your guest. Remember this is your night and they are there to be with you they will be happy if your happy. So again, close your eyes ….. what do you see? And what photos do you want to see for the rest of your life. Can you picture it?
